The house

A former family home, turned into a professional residence.

Built from the eighteenth to the twenty-first centuries, the large building facing south-east was first restored as a holiday home in 1975, then as a professional residence beginning in 2016-8.

Overall plan

Centered on the main building, on a northwest/southeast axis.
Swimming pool to the west, Workshop/Meeting hall to the east.
Parking areas north, gardens south.

Conditions of residency

By invitation only. No financial participation is required, but visitors agree to respect certain basic conditions. This house, once occupied by families, has been rehabilitated with you in mind. It is no longer a personal home. Please open all cupboards and drawers to find anything you may need, or ask me.  On the other hand, everything in this house is part of its history, recycled for new use.  Please take good care of its contents and put things back where you found them before leaving. Most of the paintings were by my mother-in-law Monique Dupont, and the photographs by my father-in-law, Bernard Dupont.

● Linens are available unless you prefer to bring your own.  The two main kitchens are stocked with basic condiments, and staples in mouse-proof containers.  Meals are not suppled but perhaps sometimes we might share?

● Our visitors are curious, creative people who come here to work on projects they care about. Each one organizes the timetable needed for the project.  We may cross paths for tea, a meal, a walk, but otherwise I will leave you to your own devices. This is not however just a holiday home. Almost all of visitors’ projects take final shape elsewhere, as a book or research study, concert or exposition.  Sometimes the most important result is the exchange among residents previously unknown to each other. Several unexpected collaborations were born here, between stonemasons and herbalists for example.  I myself can offer contacts and sometimes fresh perspectives.

● Read the one page of instructions for use to find out how the Wifi works, etc., the off-peak hours for electricity, the handling of shutters in summer, wood stoves in winter... etc.  Please respect seasonal conditions.

● When leaving, leave everything clean, put back in place the dishes or any object (trays?) that has changed studios.  Take any rubbish that does not go to the compost (municipal sorting bins immediately on the left when leaving the Chemin de Rousselonge).

● Please report to me anything that is not working properly, or is uncomfortable or too worn. I want you to feel good, VERY good!
